Unstable Futures is an exhibition that features work that question what lies ahead in technology, the environment, and society. Although the collection displays how artists, designers, and scientists visualize merging possibilities, each object carries an underlying layer of uncertainty with ethical boundaries.
In order to create a typographic system that aligns with the exhibit’s intention, I explored the meaning of the unknown and focused on the concept of progression through the overlap of technology and nature. A key influence for the design direction was researching Eco-Brutalism and identifying similar key ideas of functionality and advancing society.
Establishing an identity for the exhibit adds to the experience and communicates the significance of the show to the public. The development of a custom wordmark and defining a typographic system was essential to creating a range of assets—from a poster collection to gallery signages—in a branded package.
